Research at Microchip Biosystems Lab. focuses on development of Lab-on-a-Chip systems that enable unique biological experiments at higher throughput and high accuracy that can then be readily adoptable by the broad bio/medical scientific community.
Current research interests include Liquid-metal based sensors, development and application of microphysiological systems for neuroscience applications (Brain-on-a-Chip), Micro Bio-refinery chips for Bioenergy and Biomass production, high-throughput screening platforms, Point-of-care diagnosis systems, and micro/nano fabrication.

✓ Brain-on-a-Chip: In vitro model for myelination, neural stem cell differentiation, neural signal circuits
✓ In vitro axon regeneration model
✓ Blood barrier models: Blood-brain-barrier, blood-retina-barrier
Microbes as Biorefinery for Bioenergy and biomedical materials
✓ Microalgae metabolite analysis chip using optical analysis
✓ Optimization of cell growth and metabolite production using external stimulation on a Chip
